Membership Categories
Fellow
- Hold at least a Doctoral degree (or equivalent terminal qualification) in a recognized scientific, academic, or technical field.
- Possess a minimum of 10+ years of professional experience in academia, research institutions, or high-level scientific practice.
- Demonstrate a distinguished record of contributions: evidenced by peer-reviewed publications, landmark research projects, policy advisory work, or innovations that have advanced scientific knowledge or addressed national challenges.
- Be actively engaged in leadership roles (e.g., research supervision, institutional governance) that foster scientific growth in Liberia.
- Uphold the Academy's values of academic excellence, ethical rigor, and commitment to leveraging science for national development.
Member
- Must hold at least a Master's degree (or equivalent postgraduate qualification) in a recognized scientific, academic, or professional field.
- Must possess a minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in academia, research, or other relevant scientific/professional sectors.
- Must demonstrate a sustained record of contributions to scholarship, research, or professional practice, evidenced through publications, teaching, innovation, or applied expertise.
- Must be actively engaged in research, teaching, or professional activities that advance scientific knowledge, innovation, or national development.
- Must uphold the values of academic integrity, ethical practice, and commitment to the mission of the Liberia Academy of Sciences.
Associate Member
- Must hold at least a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent qualification) in a recognized scientific, academic, or professional discipline.
- Be early-career professionals, researchers, or graduate students actively pursuing advanced studies or contributing to scientific inquiry.
- Must demonstrate interest and potential in advancing knowledge through research, teaching, innovation, or applied practice.
- Must show evidence of engagement in academic or professional activities (conferences, workshops, publications, community-based scientific initiatives).
- Must commit to upholding values of integrity, ethical practice, and collaboration promoted by the Liberia Academy of Sciences.
- Must express willingness to contribute to the Academy's mission by supporting scientific dialogue, knowledge dissemination, and national development initiatives.
Honorary Member
- Public officials and policymakers whose leadership has advanced scientific development, education, or evidence-based policymaking.
- Professionals outside academia—including leaders in industry, civil society, or sports—who have significantly promoted scientific knowledge, innovation, or the application of science for national development.
- Individuals recognized nationally or internationally for outstanding achievements or advocacy that strengthen the role of science in addressing societal challenges.
- Persons whose work exemplifies the Academy's values of integrity, service, and commitment to the public good.
