Biography
Chris Gilbert is Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at William V. S. Tubman University in Harper, Maryland County, Liberia. He holds a PhD and works in the field of cybersecurity and emerging technologies, one of the priority areas for Liberia's digital development.
Based at Tubman University's Harper campus, one of Liberia's two public universities, Professor Gilbert teaches and supervises students in computer science and engineering, contributing to the training of the technology professionals that Liberia's public and private sectors increasingly require. His teaching and professional work address the security of information systems and the responsible adoption of emerging technologies in a resource-constrained environment. He accepted the distinction of Fellow of the Liberia Academy of Sciences in July 2026, authorising LAS to publish his basic professional and academic information.
As a Liberian scholar in cybersecurity and emerging technologies, his expertise is directly relevant to Liberia's priorities in digital transformation, the protection of national information infrastructure and the building of sustainable local capacity in computing and data sciences.
