Biography
Kenai Said is Professor of Concrete Technology and Building Materials in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University Saâd Dahleb Blida 1 in Algeria, where he directs the LGEOMAT research laboratory, a forty-six-member geo-materials and civil-engineering research unit, and has supervised numerous postgraduate researchers in materials and structural engineering. He obtained his PhD from the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom in 1988.
Professor Said is a member of the American Concrete Institute and a founding member of the African Materials Research Society. With more than one hundred and sixty scientific publications, his research covers sustainable concrete technology, the durability of concrete under hot climates and severe environments, the use of recycled aggregates and industrial by-products in construction, and the broader development of civil engineering materials suited to African conditions. He accepted the distinction of Fellow of the Liberia Academy of Sciences in August 2026, authorising LAS to publish his basic professional and academic information while excluding private contact details.
His expertise is particularly relevant to Liberia's priorities in reconstructing durable, climate-appropriate infrastructure, localising construction materials research and training the civil engineers needed for national rebuilding and long-term infrastructure maintenance.
