Biography

Professor Mosotho J. George is Professor of Analytical and Applied Chemistry at the National University of Lesotho. His research includes analytical chemistry, sample preparation, chromatography and mass spectrometry, with applications across environmental analysis, natural products and related areas. He has also contributed to science education, science policy, innovation and the wider promotion of chemistry and scientific capacity in Lesotho. Professor George received his MSc and PhD in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Johannesburg, South Africa, following his undergraduate and honours studies at the National University of Lesotho. Over the course of his academic career, he has held leadership responsibilities within the University and has contributed to initiatives supporting research, innovation and the development of young scientists. He also serves as a member of the Executive Board of Commonwealth Chemistry for the 2026–2029 term. His expertise in analytical and environmental chemistry is particularly relevant to scientific capacity needs in areas such as water-quality assessment, environmental monitoring, laboratory development and evidence-based management of natural resources in Liberia and other African countries.
