Biography
Professor Mouhamadou Hassirou is a Full Professor (CAMES) in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, Faculty of Science and Technology, at Abdou Moumouni University in Niger. His research is centred on differential geometry and geometric analysis, including Poisson and Jacobi structures, pseudo-Riemannian geometry and related mathematical structures.
His scholarly work has contributed to research and postgraduate training in geometry and analysis, and he has supervised and supported the development of young mathematicians. More recently, his academic activities have also included research on mathematics education and the teaching of geometry, contributing to efforts to strengthen mathematics instruction and teacher development in Niger.
Professor Hassirou has also contributed to regional scientific and institutional cooperation in West Africa. He served as Chair of the Governing Board of the West African Science Service Centre on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL) and has participated in African mathematical and scientific networks. This experience combines mathematical scholarship with regional research governance and scientific capacity development.
His expertise in advanced mathematics, postgraduate training and regional scientific cooperation is particularly relevant to Liberia's priorities in strengthening mathematics education, quantitative research capacity, STEM development and the mentoring of young scientists.
