Biography

Obid Tursunov is a Distinguished Professor at TIIAME National Research University in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, and holds the degree of Doctor of Technical Sciences. His research sits at the intersection of environmental biotechnology, bioenergy and sustainable development, and he maintains a strong record of international research collaboration. Professor Tursunov has authored more than ninety scientific publications. His work includes the catalytic hydrogenation of carbon dioxide to methanol over copper- and iron-based catalysts, adsorption mechanisms for removing heavy metals from water, and renewable energy conversion technologies, contributing to both fundamental understanding and practical environmental engineering solutions. According to the official announcement of the Liberia Academy of Sciences, his election as LAS Fellow was resolved at the Academy's Annual General Meeting and took effect on 1 January 2026, in high recognition of his outstanding contributions to environmental biotechnology, bioenergy and sustainable development. Per the LAS announcement, his research directions are closely aligned with Liberia's development needs, and he has undertaken to fulfil the responsibilities of an LAS Fellow in support of the Academy's development and the advancement of science in Liberia, particularly in environmental management and clean energy.
