Biography
Dr. Samuel A. Adekunle is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, College of Engineering and Technology, at William V. S. Tubman University in Liberia. His academic and professional work spans construction management, quantity surveying, digital construction, Building Information Modelling (BIM), construction economics, sustainability, value management, and construction health and safety.
His research examines the digital transformation of the construction industry, including BIM adoption, construction digitisation, process improvement, sustainable construction practices and the performance of construction organisations and projects. His work also engages directly with industry, reflecting a continuing interest in translating academic research into practical improvements in construction delivery, organisational performance and infrastructure development.
Beyond teaching and research, Dr. Adekunle provides consultancy and professional support to higher education institutions and other organisations. His activities include organisational process-improvement initiatives aimed at strengthening process maturity, academic and institutional development, and the delivery of professional-development programmes through seminars, workshops and related capacity-building activities.
He has participated in research and grant-funded collaborations with a cumulative value of more than USD 500,000, working with collaborators in South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, the United Kingdom, the United States and other countries. His international academic collaborations have contributed to research on digital construction, construction management, sustainability and industry transformation.
Dr. Adekunle holds B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Quantity Surveying from the University of Lagos and a Ph.D. in Construction Management from the University of Johannesburg. His expertise is particularly relevant to Liberia's priorities in modernising construction practice, strengthening infrastructure delivery, developing sustainable and safe built environments, improving institutional capacity, and training engineers and construction professionals for a more digitally enabled economy.
