Biography
Dr. Toka Diagana is Professor and Chair of the Department of Mathematical Sciences at The University of Alabama in Huntsville. His research spans evolution equations, functional analysis, operator theory, stochastic analysis, non-Archimedean analysis, p-adic dynamical systems, mathematical biology, and related areas.
He received his Ph.D. in Mathematics from Claude Bernard University Lyon 1 in France in 1999. Prior to joining The University of Alabama in Huntsville, he spent many years on the faculty of Howard University in Washington, D.C., where he served as a professor and held leadership responsibilities in graduate education. Throughout his academic career, he has combined research in advanced mathematics with teaching, scholarly publishing, and a sustained commitment to mentoring and developing the next generation of mathematicians, particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds. Professor Diagana is a Fellow of the African Academy of Sciences, to which he was elected in 2009.
Professor Diagana's expertise in mathematical analysis, evolution equations, nonlinear mathematics, and mathematical modeling is particularly relevant to strengthening advanced mathematics education, quantitative and interdisciplinary research capacity, and the training and mentoring of emerging researchers in Liberia and across the broader African scientific community.
