The Liberia Academy of Sciences (LAS) formally announces that Prof. Dr. Obid Tursunov, Distinguished Professor at TIIAME National Research University in Uzbekistan, has been elected as an LAS Fellow — the highest academic honor conferred by the Academy.

As resolved at the Academy’s Annual General Meeting, Prof. Tursunov’s Fellowship will take effect on January 1, 2026. This election is a high recognition of his outstanding contributions to the fields of environmental biotechnology, bioenergy, and sustainable development.
A globally renowned scholar, Prof. Tursunov’s research achievements are highly aligned with Liberia’s development needs. Upon assuming the Fellowship, he will fulfill his duties as an LAS Fellow and contribute to the Academy’s development and Liberia’s scientific advancement.
